Jazz is a musical genre born at the end of the 19th century in the United States, which expanded globally throughout the 20th century and whose identity is very complex. It comes from a family of musical genres of African American culture and has always been open to influences from other musical traditions varying with the mixture of cultures, and since then it has been performed by musicians from various parts of the world. On many occasions, jazz has been shown as the most successful work of musicians, understanding on the contrary that jazz is a form of black music, in which African-Americans have been its greatest innovators and its most notable representatives.
